Steam drum - Wikipedia
It is a reservoir of water/steam at the top end of the water tubes. The drum stores the steam generated in the water tubes and acts as a phase- separator for the steam/water mixture. The difference in densities between hot and cold water helps in the accumulation of the "hotter"-water/and saturated-steam into the steam-drum.
Boiler Steam drum internals and function
In the water tube boiler the upper drum (Boiler steam drum) provides for separation of steam from water. It also provides liquid holdup capacity (typically 10 to 60 seconds) to allow for a dynamic response to load changes without losing liquid in the downcomer and riser tubes.

2022年5月2日 · Steam drums are located at the top of watertube boilers and are the filled with water up to a certain threshold. Tubes connected to the bottom of the drum allow heated water to enter the drum. The bottom half of the steam drum sits …
Steam Drum - Thermal Power Tech
Steam drum is most important part of boiler. Boiler Drum is a pressure vessel it is used to separate steam and water mixture. Principles of working: A steam drum is a standard feature of the boiler water pipes. It is a reservoir of water/steam at the upper end of the water wall.
Boiler Steam Drum Explained - saVRee
What is a boiler steam drum? Watertube boilers use steam drums to ensure that the steam supplied to consumers is ' clean ' (free of foreign bodies and moisture). Watertube boiler steam drums are located at the top of the boiler, above all other boiler parts.
9-Functions of Boiler steam drum - Power plant and calculations
2023年10月9日 · Here are the main functions of a steam drum in a boiler: 1-Steam-Water Separation: One of the key functions of the steam drum is to separate steam from the water in the boiler. When water is heated in the boiler's tubes, it turns into steam. The steam drum provides a space where this separation can occur.
