The Siren is our muse, the face of our brand. Her image and our strong wordmark are our most recognizable brand assets. The preferred approach is to use the Siren logo by itself, unlocked from the wordmark. This allows flexibility to present the Siren with greater prominence while maintaining a considered, open and modern presentation.

Few symbols are as recognizable as the Starbucks Siren, and, like most icons, her look has adapted to the changing times. Our original logo, designed by Terry Heckler in 1971, depicted a bare-breasted figure surrounded by our name (then “Starbucks Coffee, Tea, and Spices”).

The original Starbucks logo in 1971 was black and white (and later brown) and featured a two-tailed mermaid on the walls of Starbucks coffee shops, encircled by the name of the company “Starbucks: Coffee, Tea, Spices”.

2023年9月19日 · Starbucks has always sported a circular logo, one of the most common shapes in graphic design. A circle-shaped logo appears neat, simple, and easy to recognize. It could also mean a never-ending struggle to achieve one’s goals.

On January 5, 2011, Starbucks unveiled a new logo which omitted the ring altogether; the siren in the circle thus became the entire logo and was recolored in green as well. The logo was reported to be introduced in March to celebrate the company's 40th anniversary. The design work was done internally at Starbucks with outside help from Lippincott.
