2023年7月12日 · Since my goal is to have this NAS as a part of my 3-2-1 backup plan, I think RAID 5 is appropriate. The Samsung EVO SSDs are rated at a 2400 TBW. I think one fault tolerance should give me a fairly long lifespan.

2022年3月7日 · Anecdotally, the overall performance of my NAS is similar to an internal SATA SSD even though I'm only using a PCIe x1 slot (NAS is faster on average but has worse 99th percentile latency vs an internal drive).

2021年8月2日 · Knowing that it's best practice to keep your OS and Data separate, I would need a boot/OS drive. A low capacity SSD, aiming for roughly 128-256GB would be more than enough. I don't plan to using SSD caching drives at present, but its worth considering. Note: NVMe is not supported on the motherboard due to not having one.
