6 天之前 · The Spence Hot Springs Trail is a hidden gem nestled within the stunning landscapes of the Jemez Mountains. This route offers a unique blend of hiking and relaxation, leading to natural geothermal hot springs.

Hike is about 20 minutes for middle aged couple in fairly good health. Trail in fairly easy to follow, but can be a little slick in areas from the water and mud. Towards the end the trail kind of peters out, but follow the water flow to the boulder area above and to the left.

One of the more popular attractions in the area, these hot springs are found on a hillside overlooking the Jemez River and offer a vast view of the surrounding mountains.

Spence Hot Springs are located at the edge of a collapsed super volcano, the Valles Caldera, near the Soda Dam. [4] The water emerges from the upper spring at 109°F; and at 100°F from the spring in the cave. [2][1] Naegleria Fowleri has been found in the hot spring water, a potentially fatal parasitic amoeba common in warm and springs. [5]
