2023年7月14日 · Interest in the Spanish-American War is therefore increasing, and along with it, a desire on the part of many people to learn more about the 280,564 sailors, marines, and soldiers who served, of whom 2,061 died from various causes.

Below are the rosters of military units that we presently have available either in our collections or on the web. We hope to add more listings of military personnel on the website. (For rosters listed below, but not yet on the website you can contact us and ask us to check the listing for you).

The following is historical information on the various veterans associations and organizations that were formed following the war by the Veterans of the Spanish American War (1898-1899), the Philippine Insurrection (1898-1902), and the China Relief Expedition (1900).

2025年2月3日 · Records from the Spanish-American War are generally much more descriptive, complete, and accurate than those from earlier wars. Name spelling became more uniform and literacy more common. These improvements make it easier to locate birth dates, family members, and other important genealogical information.

The war with Spain began in April, 1898 when Major General William Shafter, a former commander of the 24th Infantry led an expeditionary force of over 17,000 men, including nearly 3,000 Black regulars, into Cuba.
