25 or 40 watt soldering iron/gun for guitar electronics?
2009年4月29日 · Pfft. I have a soldering station and I still use my Rat Shack 15/30w switchable pencil iron for really small stuff. It has a super pointy tip and my soldering station iron doesn't. It has what they call a pencil tip but it's rounded. I have a spare for it, so I may sharpen it with my Dremel and see how long the point lasts.
Which solder for guitar wiring? - Harmony Central
2009年3月27日 · What you want is something with rosin in it. Flux does two things. first, at soldering temperature, it cleans and prevents the formation of metal oxides. Secondly, flux acts as a wetting agent in the soldering process, reducing the surface tension of the molten solder and causing it to better wet out the parts to be joined.
Soldering to the back of a pot? - Harmony Central
2008年8月28日 · I use a Weller 100/140 watt solder gun for guitar soldering work. I can almost instantly bring the soldering tip up to the proper temperature (at 140 watt trigger setting) then back off to 100 watt setting and flow solder for wire tinning or for solder connections. Cold solder joints don't happen with this setup.
Connectors instead of soldering - Electric Guitars - Harmony Central
2005年12月29日 · But building on this idea, imagine a guitar where you can easily remove the entire wiring without taking off the strings or de/retuning and breaking out the soldering gun. You could throw in humbuckers, single goils, 500k 1meg, .47caps, crazy switching schematics just by popping out the electronics and connecting to the cable jack's wires.
soldering wires to speaker terminals - Harmony Central
2014年6月8日 · Please DON'T just wrap the wire around the terminals, even though it will work for a while, eventually it will vibrate loose and cause problems. Soldering wires to speaker terminals is one of the easiest soldering jobs to do, but if you don't want to solder then get some crimp-on spade connectors and use them to connect the speaker.
I can't get the solder to stick to the back of the pot! Suggestions ...
2007年4月26日 · A dab of soldering flux (rosin) for a stubborn one doesn't hurt. The use of a 40 watt iron is an EXTREMELY bad idea. By the time the back of the pot is hot enough to take solder, the resistive element is hotter than I would accept.
How easy is it to burn out a pot? - Harmony Central
2010年2月2日 · If your soldering to the back/bottom of the pot (not the little tabby things) rough it up a bit first, scratch it with a screw driver or hit it with a bit of sand paper..(remember to clean it off after) and you will find the solder will flow a lot easier.
Any way to wire a guitar without soldering? - Electric Guitars ...
2008年3月7日 · you can crimp it with some sort of blade or bullet connector im guessing, but im honestly gonna say soldering is normally the best way that your wire doesnt disconnect at the connection point, i also dont know if it will affect tone or anything cuz ive never done it before... maybe someone else could further help you with any problems with that decision good luck
Replacing pickups without soldering - Harmony Central
2006年11月26日 · They will work as long as you use connectors of the appropriate wire gause, but as said before.. they will occupy a lot of space in your electronics cavity. Soldering will provide a much neater and more secure connection. Also, as far as changing pickups out again later, butt connectors will waste just as much or more wire.
Speaker Wiring: quick connect clips VS soldering
2009年2月28日 · the speaker jack is pretty much a "quick connect clip" as it is, so you don't really lose anything using them on the speaker terminals as long as you make sure they're good and tight. they certainly make life easier if you plan on swapping out speakers.
