Best Piccolo Snare Drum | [DFO] Drum Forum
2010年6月26日 · Hello. This is my first post. I'm considering purchasing a piccolo snare. So far, I'm debating between the 3x13 Ludwig Black Beauty, an older maple Tama Artstar piccolo, or one of the Pearl Piccolos (1330 or possibly free floater). Any opinions? I've heard regular black beauties and like the...

Snare drum pitch? | [DFO] Drum Forum
2008年12月4日 · Work with a producer, or a knowledgeable guy from the band if you're unsure. There's no exact formula. If you play an off-center rimshot, you might wnat to tune the batter head in some relation the chords used the most. If you use a low snare sound, maybe the fundamental tone of the drum (resultant of both heads and drum) can be tuned to fit ...
Ludwig Snare 1920's info needed | [DFO] Drum Forum
2012年8月22日 · Hi guys, havent posted on here for a while. I have inherited a ludwig snare (guessing 1920's ere). I just wondered if anyone in the know, could tell me what model this is, and also an approx value (although not for sale). Also, frustratingly, the …
Snare drum for low volume situations | [DFO] Drum Forum
2011年6月5日 · I'm looking for suggestions for a low-volume snare drum. I have an arsenal of brushes, rods, light sticks, zero rings, and moon gel but I'm interested in a drum that has intrinsically low volume without resorting to excessive dampening. Also looking for advise on head choices for my existing...
let's talk about 12 inch snares - [DFO] Drum Forum
2013年1月19日 · Perhaps, in a studio or any other direct microphone environment, that drum could work, but for balancing with the rest of the kit acoustically, as a main snare drum, I think a larger diameter drum works better. For special situations, such as a small cocktail setup or as a secondary effects drum, sure, that 12x5 Gretsch is a great candidate.
14x8 Snare Drum - [DFO] Drum Forum
2009年8月13日 · That size (and deeper) were all the rage in the 1980's so think "Hair Band" snare sound. Of course it depends on how you tune them and if tightened way up they can sound more or less like a shallower snare drum but they can sound very "fat" if left looser. I have a Ludwig Coliseum model which was a 12 lug 8x14 snare.

Let's share snare tuning tips - [DFO] Drum Forum
2005年10月31日 · Got this from Joe Morello's site: "Joe tunes his snare drum fairly tight and crisp, with the batter head about a fourth lower than the snare side. All drums are played wide open, with the only muffling being a 2" felt strip on the batter head of the base drum, running from top to bottom about 3" off the center of the head."
Snare Throw-off Slipping Badly - [DFO] Drum Forum
2017年12月30日 · I also believe that getting a new snare drum will not solve anything. If you feel that 14x6,5 Ludwig Legacy (that is supposed to be quite warm sounding drum) is sounding too loud, bright and thin, then the problem lies on tuning or on the way you hit the drum aka touch. 5" deep aluminum drum will only sound thinner and brighter than your current Ludwig, especially …
