2012年1月30日 · As far as skimmate performance, there isn't going to be a difference, only that the way you achieve the proper flow through the skimmer body is done differently. If your DC skimmer is putting out frothy skimmate it's because it's tuned to do so. You can achieve the same goal with an AC pump. The benefits are as gablami stated.

2022年8月22日 · I for sure run a skimmer as this not only is an export function, it keeps waters oxygenated. I use a skimmer and keep track of nitrate and phosphate. When it comes a point, for me it was about a year and a half, my nitrates/phosphate started rising even with 10% water change. It was at this time I added a lit refuge which stopped the climb.

2018年4月12日 · personally, i have my in this configuration: drain, skimmer, fuge, return. between the fuge and return there are baffles/bubble trap with a black filter sponge i occasionally rinse/change. i have seen much success with this setup, as well as with the fuge going before the skimmer. i think it's just personal preference.

I am currently using it at low doses with my Great White 12 skimmer, but would prefer to have a skimmer that is explicitly designed to be used with it. 2023年11月8日 · I have the same skimmer and will get a reaction like this when I change filter floss or run a new poly filter. Usually only lasts an hour or so. When the cup overflows the water falls back into the skimmer body. How is it getting on the floor? I would run a bunch of new carbon to remove whatever is causing the skimmer to freak out.

2020年2月1日 · I am leaning toward buying a quality skimmer in the Reef Octopus Regal 150 S. I like the fact that it has the quality Reef Octopus pump, and they are a pretty quality brand over all. I am wondering if anyone has had success running this skimmer on an 80g total water volume system with a medium to heavy bio-load.
