Susan Alexandra "Sigourney" Weaver (/ s ɪ ˈ ɡ ɔːr n i / si-GOR-nee; born October 8, 1949) is an American actress. Prolific in film since the late 1970s, she is known for her pioneering portrayals of action heroines.

Although best known for her role in the Alien franchise, Weaver has fostered a prolific filmography, appearing in more than 60 films. In 1981, she starred alongside William Hurt in the neo-noir Eyewitness. Her next role was opposite Mel Gibson in the Peter Weir –directed The Year of Living Dangerously (1982). [8] .
