
Trouble with bogies
In late 1987 the first SIG Type BT41 bogie had been trialled under a Mk3 coach M12140 in a special test train which on 1st November achieved speeds of nearly 150 mile/h on the ECML between York and Darlington during the test running.

The FIAT-SIG bogie is a welded H frame type based on the Eurofima standard. The primary suspension is with articulated arms and coil springs, secondary suspension of integral flexicoil type with coil springs and rubber pads on top and bottom, anti-roll bar, vertical and transverse shock absorbers and anti-hunting dampers.

M12140 Mk3 coach bogie trials - traintesting.com
It is fitted with experimental BT7 bogies with Clouth rubber primary suspension. It was also used to trial the SIG bogie prior to selection for the Mk4 coaches. Not yet come across any photos of T4 fitted to M12140. BT17 bogie was a BT10 but with coil/rubber pedestal primaries and was fitted under Mk3 coach No: M12093.

2002年12月14日 · AFAIK, at least the earlier SIG bogie is provided with a cylindrical guide type primary suspension design (CGTPSD). Since there may be a trend in the world to use the radial type truck design (RTTD) recently, does SBB also follow abovementioned trend, i.e. leaving the CGTPSD and applying the RTTD in the near future? M12140 in the SIG Bogie Test Train at Darlington - 1 Nov 1987
1987年11月1日 · M12140 MkIII coach fitted with prototype SIG BT41 bogies. The 1st November 1987 saw test running between York and Darlington, taking speed up in 5 mile/h steps above 125 mile/h to confirm the stability up to 145 mile/h.

The test instrumentation for the SIG bogie tests included the use of amplifiers to condition the data signals from the acceleration and displacement transducers installed along the train. The data signals were filtered accordingly and recorded onto UV chart recorders and also 1" magnetic reel-reel tape recorders.
