The 228 | SIG Talk
2024年12月16日 · The 228 was designed exclusively for the 9mm and was balanced perfectly for that caliber. The US Secret Service, Navy NCIS, and I believe Naval aviators were all issued the weapon under the USG nomenclature M11. Sig then designed the 229 for .357 and .40. At some point Sig decided to market the 229 for 9mm as well and discontinued the 228.

2021年10月26日 · It’s really a P229, with the P229 slide, 229-1 frame, but wearing the P228 logo grip, when SIG originally released it. Some years later, SIG finally decided that it is officially a P229, so all current M11-A1s now wear the P229 logo grip. Pic here shows original P228 logo grips replaced with SIG SAUER logo Hogue made aluminum grips:

P228 vs P229 - SIG Talk
2012年6月12日 · The 228 is a compact version of the 226. It comes only in 9mm, so for people who like the 228 but wanted the option of .40 S&W or .357 SIG, the 229 was born. Because of the higher calibers, the 229 has a milled stainless steel slide; whereas the 228 has a folded carbon steel slide, which is sufficient for a pistol that only uses 9mm.

Does anyone mill a P228 slide for an optic? - SIG Talk
2024年7月5日 · Don't chop up a Classic W.G. 228 , and yes it will degrade it's value. Just buy yourself an optics cut 229 or 226 if you're set on utilising an optic. And as much as Legions leave me " meh " to a good degree it wasn't a bad recommendation and would tick all the boxes as far as bells and whistles go.
P228, P229, M11-A...What are the differences? - SIG Talk
2017年7月1日 · Sigs use of P228 grips initially on the M11A1, was probably to use up inventory, as the 228/229 shared grip size, and the 228 was basically discontinued. Probably as already mentioned as a marketing scheme... The M11A1 is essentially a non railed P229 9mm, with a chrome lined barrel, and parkerized internal parts.
Battle of the 9mm ... P226 or P228 - SIG Talk
2018年3月28日 · My P226 9mm with a threaded barrel is unbelievably accurate. I like the 228/229 for carry purposes but range day it’s my 226 RX 9mm all day long. Also for a range gun you might want to look at getting a RX for it. Totally awesome fun shooting with an RX. To be honest, if your not going to shoot the 228 after buying a 226 range gun.. sell it.

2019年6月22日 · Whether SIG marketing is more deceitful calling a P229/M11A1 a "P228" or calling the current production stainless slide/MIM loaded P220 and P226 a real "P220" or "P226" is debatable. The classic P-series design has morphed; educated SIG owners know that and either accept the new reality or limit their SIG inventories to piece(s) of history.
