This is called a “money shift” and it is very bad. Looking back to the bicycle example, it is the same as riding down a huge hill with a tiny wheel.

Imagine being able to slow down with out having to slam on your brakes. You just down shift. Go back and play Daytona USA with a manual car on the first track. Just after you pass the slot machine comes the sharper left turn. If you have a manual car you can just down shift to third gear and jam the wheel to the left.

2022年1月7日 · Every car i've seen with a manual shift either has a RPM meter or a shift light. You can see the revs or the light turns on the dashboard telling you to shift. As the person is saying above, you can feel it for most cars it doesn't take long. Driving a manual car is a dance with the clutch pedal, gas/brake and shifter.

2022年8月13日 · I think it should shift. Might need adjustment if it’s just refusing too. Mine will shift under load and it’s almost 20 years old. That being said I try to be at a cadence of 75 rpm min and usually drop down to the small chain ring at the start and shift to the smaller gear on the cassette then drop down further if I need to using the rear.

2022年1月12日 · So when going into 5th gear, the potentiometer was just moving with the shifter and still thinking that i was just shifting into 3rd. Not cool when in 4th gear on the nordschleife trying to go to 5th ;) So here was my fix to make sure that this potentiometer stayed in position, some hot glue: Hotglued to make sure it doesn't shift sideways.

2023年6月30日 · Can I shift gears of an automatic transmission when the engine is off? This is probably a very basic thing but I'm very new to driving autos and would like to know. I know in manual vehicles, you can shift into any gear while the engine is turned off.
