The Stabilisation Force (SFOR) was a NATO-led multinational peacekeeping force deployed to Bosnia and Herzegovina after the Bosnian War. Although SFOR was led by NATO, several non-NATO countries contributed troops. It was replaced by EUFOR Althea in December 2004.

2003年7月22日 · The U.N. Security Council authorized Member States to continue SFOR for a period of 12 months in U.N. Security Council Resolution 1491 of July 11, 2003.

SFOR rotations 9 to 12 will incorporate units from the Army Reserve and six of the Army National Guard's 15 enhanced separate brigades. The brigades are higher priority combat units that would be the first called to active duty in the event of mobilization.

The mission and force structure of the SFOR follow-on force—which will also be called SFOR—will remain largely the same as prior to June 1998. SFOR levels in Bosnia increased from about 31,700 troops in August 1998 to about 36,100 troops at the time of the September elections in Bosnia4 but are expected to decrease again by November 1998.

SFOR 12 is the first rotation in the seven years of the mission that is comprised nearly entirely of National Guard and Army Reserve citizen-soldiers. The 28 th Infantry Division is the third National Guard headquarters element to assume command of MND (N) following the 49 th Armored Division (SFOR 7) and the 29 th Infantry Division (SFOR 10).
