2025年1月7日 · How Sando-K works. The antacid potential of potassium bicarbonate is attained by increasing the gastrointestinal pH by neutralizing hydrochloric acid. The increase in pH results in suppression of the action of pepsin which is the enzyme that exacerbates ulceration due to the presence of acid.
SANDO-K® - Alturix
Sando-K® is an effervescent tablet, containing 0.6g potassium chloride, and 0.4g potassium bicarbonate and is indicated for the prevention and treatment of hypokalaemia. Hypokalaemia can be caused by potassium depleting drugs such as frusemide, thiazide diuretics, corticosteroids, carbenoxolone and cardiac glycosides.
Management of Hypokalaemia (plasma K + <3.5mmol/L)
Oral potassium chloride is the treatment of choice for most patients. Effervescent tablets (Sando-K ®), each contain 12mmol of potassium and 8mmol of chloride. The dosage and duration of treatment depends on existing potassium deficit and whether there is continuing potassium loss.
