This is an excellent example of a rare Steyr K98 purported to be part of an SS contract order fulfilled at Gusen camp. From Karem's book on the 98k, these rifles were coded 'bnz 43' on the receiver but assembled in early 1944.

The other skull is "SS2" type associated with SS-Waffenwerkstatt Dachau in 41-42 when many SS gew rifles were sent back to be reworked further with bent bolts and front band spring conversion.

The lack of a E/623 inspection stamp on the receiver gives it away for SS contract receivers but would need more pictures of the bolt, barrel, triggerguard to determine the rest. Stock appears to have come off of an earlier bnz 41 rifle with the E/H followed by 2 E/623 stamps.

From Karem's book on the 98k, these rifles were coded 'bnz 43' on the receiver but assembled in early 1944. The stocks were unmarked on the side and built with the oversize 'bnz 43' marked receiver V7 Gusen marking.
