I have a US-8-150W switch connected to the SFP Lan port on my UDM pro using two DLINK sfp's (LOL) and about 30 meters of OM4 fiber. I did this because not only do I have the US-8-150W on the other side of the house, but all the outdoor camera's and AP's are connected to it.

Now the switches have been placed into a live environment and connected together usings a longer fibre cable, I cannot replicate the tests. Yes, you will need a module to put into the SFP port. Being the port on the US-24 is not SFP+ you will be limited to a 1gbps connection. Fiber is generally used for these SFP connections if you need higher speeds or longer distances than Ethernet can provide. There are also Ethernet SFP modules but I don't see much use if connecting two switches.

Sometimes with GPON, ISPs may offer an ONT in the form of an SFP transceiver which you can plug into a router with SFP ports. Physically, it may appear that the fiber is connected directly into the router, but the ONT is still there, within the SFP transceiver, delivering Ethernet frames, something the router can understand.
