Ruspoli's turaco (Menelikornis ruspolii), also known as Prince Ruspoli's turaco, is a species of bird in the family Musophagidae. It is endemic to southern Ethiopia where its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry forests. It is threatened by habitat loss.

A spectacular green turaco with a fluffy whitish crest. Shows large crimson wing patches in flight. An Ethiopian endemic that is found very locally in lush woodland and scrub, often in areas with fruiting trees.

2023年7月12日 · The Prince Ruspoli’s Turaco or Touraco De Ruspoli is listed amongst the fifty rarest birds of the world and is native to Sidamo and Bale provinces of Ethiopia, preferring subtropical or tropical dry forest habitats. This turaco is related to the white-cheeked turaco and inhabits much of the same area.

2024年6月21日 · We aim to determine the distribution and extent of suitable habitats for Tauraco ruspolii and T. leucotis in Ethiopia and predict their range in the 2050s and 2070s using MaxEnt algorithm. We used 25 and 29 rarified occurrence points for T. ruspolii and T. leucotis, respectively, and 13 environmental variables.

The Ruspoli inhabits many of the same areas as the White-cheeked Turaco (T.leucotis), but remains distinct by reason of habitat and temporal segregation. Also present from 1250-1860m, Ruspoli's Turaco prefers acacia or conifer woodland and is primarily frugivorous.
