Robert Norman Waddell ONZM (born 7 January 1975) is a New Zealand Olympic Gold Medalist and double World Champion Single sculler rower, and America's Cup yachtsman. He is a triple New Zealand Supreme 'Halberg Awards' Sportsperson of the year winner, 1998 to 2000.

Rob Waddell continued a long line of outstanding New Zealand single scullers when he won world titles in 1998 and 1999, and capped his career with an Olympic gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Rob Waddell first competed in the single sculls at Atlanta in 1996 as a 21-year-old, and dominated the event in 2000 to win New Zealand’s only gold medal of the Sydney games. He had also won the world title in successive years 1998 and 1999 but for all his success, he left rowing to pursue a career in sailing.
