The centre Rabten Choeling is situated 820m above sea-level, high above the lake of Geneva, on Mont-Pèlerin above Vevey, with a great view on the alps of Wallis and Savoy. The centre is an Institute for Higher Tibetan studies as well as an authentic Tibetan-Buddhist monastery with about thirty monks and five nuns and twenty lay students.

2016年1月3日 · Perched on Mont Pèlerin, Switzerland, approximately 820m above sea-level and overlooking the Alps of Wallis and Savoy is Rabten Choeling, an institute for higher Tibetan Buddhist studies which houses a thriving monastic and lay community dedicated to the pursuit of Tibetan Buddhist practices.

Geshe Rabten (1921–85) was born in Dhargye in eastern Tibet. He studied at Lhasa’s Sera Monastery, where he gained renown as a great scholar, debater and meditation master. In 1959 he escaped to India, where he became the teacher of Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

From 1969 onward, Geshe Rabten instructed Western students in the Dharma. He was one of the first Tibetan Buddhist masters to give teachings in the West, and was one of the principle gurus of Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

In spring of 1998 the ten year old Rabten Tulku Rinpoche gave his first teaching in front of a group of two hundred people in the monastery Rabten Choeling at the lake of Geneva.
