What is the difference between RS-232 and RS-232-C?
2019年1月29日 · The RS-232 Standard has gone through several revisions over the years. In the original RS-232, the signal would flip between positive and negative 25 volts. Since that point there have been three revisions, RS-232A, RS-232B, and RS-232C; these revisions lowered the acceptable voltage from 25 to 12 to 5 volts respectively.
COM port and RS-232C - Electrical Engineering Stack Exchange
2016年11月29日 · I always thought that the COM port on a classic PC implements the RS-232C serial interface. But I just noticed that the COM port is a DB-25, whereas RS-232C only uses 8 or 9 ports, and therefore tends to use DE-9.

rs232 - What determines voltage levels in RS-232 - Electrical ...
2016年5月24日 · The RS-232 standard specifies the range as: 0 (space) Asserted +3v to +15v 1 (mark) Deasserted −15v to −3v In addition, inputs must tolerate voltages up to ±25v, and outputs must tolerate indefinite shorts to ground. In the past, a lot of equipment used ±12v since it was available from a minicomputer power supply for example.
c - Serial communications and on/off voltages - Electrical …
2023年1月7日 · Now according to the below documentation, RS-232 actually comes in 3 different flavors (A, B, and C) with each one defining a different voltage range for the on and off levels. The most commonly used variety is RS-232C, which defines a mark (on) bit as a voltage between -3 V and -12 V and a space (off) bit as a voltage between +3 V and +12 V.
Could RS-232 data be carried over a standard 3.5mm audio/aux …
2024年2月18日 · I am looking at RS-232 control for various TV displays which use a different type of input connector for RS-232. The combination of RS-232 inputs on different TV displays is the standard 9-pin DB9 connector or either a 2.5mm or 3.5mm input. The set-top box that is being linked to each TV uses a 3.5mm connector.
lcd - Can a MAX232 IC be used for RS-232C standard? - Electrical ...
2018年12月8日 · I have a GT01 Panasonic LCD which it's interface is RS-232C. I have read that the difference between RS-232 and RS-232C is their voltage level which it's ±5 V in RS232C. Can I use a MAX232 IC to communicate with this LCD? I'm worried that MAX232'c Voltage level (±25 V) harms the LCD.
Max Serial Cable Length? - Electrical Engineering Stack Exchange
2015年8月27日 · RS-232 is an interface protocol. It is not designed for long lengths; it is designed to connect endpoints to more capable communications equipment. RS-232 allows you to connect to a modem that is not on your desk, but the one next to it, even if you have to run the cable high enough that people can walk under it.
