2025年2月24日 · The Sloan is from the 1970's and the long blades should last forever. It's handle gives a nice sized area to grasp in your full hand. The LMI unit is lighter and takes a lighter touch (at least with my ham fisted techniques) and the blades are small...almost delicate...when compared to the Sloan unit.

2005年3月17日 · When I look at the Ibex purfling cutter, I noticed the guard is not circular round. It is a little short straight edge to help you to be more perpendicular. The jig from Stewmac look too round to give you a good guidence around the curve.

2011年8月4日 · I use a menhanical purfling cutter with 2 knives set to give the right distance from the edge and the thickness of the purfling plus a little more. I only score the surface to cut the fibers. I do not cut to depth.

2013年1月31日 · I like the Gramil better than the traditional violin maker's purfling cutter. I have a Sloan model of that and find the blades to be a little flexy, so the cut line moves.
