Priapulid, (phylum Priapulida), any of some 15 species of predatory, marine, mud-inhabiting, unsegmented worms. Once considered a class of the former phylum Aschelminthes or placed with echiuran and sipunculan worms in the former phylum Gephyrea, priapulids have no obvious relationship to any other
Priapulid worms from the Cambrian of China shed light on reproduction ...
2021年11月1日 · Priapulid worms show an intriguing habit associated with juvenile brachiopods. In the recent years, exceptional fossil sites have revealed astonishing details on the anatomy, lifestyles and behaviour of Cambrian animals but surprisingly, very little is known about one of their most vital features, reproduction.
New morphological structures of Priapulus caudatus, Lamarck …
2024年9月1日 · In this study we examine morphological structures of adult Priapulus caudatus specimens from three localities (White Sea, Gullmarsfjord and North Sea) using light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and histology.

Priapulid worms: Pioneer horizontal burrowers at the Precambrian ...
2010年8月1日 · Here we show, by using experimental ichnology, that the treptichnid burrow systems were most probably produced by priapulid worms or by worms that used the same locomotory mechanisms as the Recent priapulids (e.g., Priapulus). Their typical three-dimensional morphology with repeated arcuate probing branches suggests that their function was ...
