Ostrobothnia (Swedish: Österbotten; Finnish: Pohjanmaa) is a region in western Finland. It borders the regions of Central Ostrobothnia, South Ostrobothnia, and Satakunta. It is one of six regions considered historical Ostrobothnia, hence it is also referred to as Coastal Ostrobothnia to avoid confusion.

Pohjanmaa (Swedish: Österbotten, English: Ostrobothnia) is a Finnish word meaning "lowlands", and may refer to:

Pohjanmaa, lowland plain in western Finland, along the Gulf of Bothnia. Pohjanmaa is about 60 miles (100 km) wide and 160 miles (257 km) long. It consists of flat plains of sand and clay soil that are broken by rivers and bog areas. It is drained mainly by the Lapuan, Kyrön, and Iso rivers, which flow to the Gulf of Bothnia.

The Pohjanmaa class is a series of four multi-role corvettes [7][10] currently under construction for the Finnish Navy as part of the Squadron 2020 (Finnish: Laivue 2020) project. Together with the existing four Hamina -class missile boats, the four new surface combatants will form the backbone of the Finnish Navy from the mid-2020s onwards.
