Podzol - Wikipedia
In soil science, podzols, also known as podosols, spodosols, or espodossolos, are the typical soils of coniferous or boreal forests and also the typical soils of eucalypt forests and heathlands in southern Australia. In Western Europe, podzols develop on heathland, which is often a construct of human interference through grazing and burning.

Podzol, one of the 30 soil groups in the classification system of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Podzols form under forested landscapes on coarse parent material that is high in quartz. They have a characteristic subsurface layer known as the spodic horizon made up of accumulated humus and metal oxides, usually iron and aluminum.

2019年6月7日 · Podzols are infertile and highly acidic soil that appear as either white or grey ash. They are located on the subsurface layer of the soil as evidence of minerals that have leached into a lower stratum. Typically, podzols are found in boreal zones and mountainous regions. In Germany, podzols are found in the Alps.
Properties and formation processes of soil Podzol - BBC
Podzols are easily recognisable by their distinct layers or horizons. A grey or light-coloured 'E' horizon is the result of severe leaching, or eluviation, which washes out everything but quartz...

2007年10月2日 · In Germany, Podzols occur in the Alps, in the glaciofluvial valleys and heathlands of N Germany, and in the mountain ranges. They fulfil several ecological functions, especially for groundwater recharge. Main threats for these mostly sandy soils are wind erosion and surface mining of sand.
