2012年1月5日 · North American pine nuts come from the Pinyon Pine (Pinus edulis) and a couple others which all grow in the southwestern states and Mexico. Other countries have species that also produce nuts. They are a pain to harvest. I just use walnuts instead. Michigan doesn't have any pines that produce nuts big enough to bother trying to collect.

I did not know I need to store the pine nuts in their shells in glass jars in the refrigerator until I had time to unshell all of them.

2024年7月30日 · I have been told that some of the best places to harvest pinon pine nuts in Colorado include the Sangre de Cristo mountains in Costilla, Alamosa, and Saguache counties. Fremont and Chaffee counties (several people mentioned the Buena Vista area in Chaffee county) also are good places. The headwaters area of the Arkansas river is popular.

2016年4月19日 · In addition these trees don't bear cones/nuts every year. They are hard to cultivate as they don't produce for 12 years or more (much more with some of the other varieties). Good to find 'em and eat 'em not so good to try to grow them. The public doesn't understand that there are many kinds of pine nuts.
