The Pilgrimage/tourist Center seeks to reconcile a complex program under the same roof. The building must be both a defined endpoint for the pilgrims and tourists and a gathering place for the locals. The layout of spaces allows for flexible use of the building that accommodates a variety of uses and functions.

Brick fins and sloped timber rafters direct and shape views, while shaded pergolas offer meditative spaces. The design feels grounded and harmonious with the landscape using earthy materials like wood, brick, and stone.

The Chatrams are pilgrim guest houses built between the 16th to 18th century by Maratha kings in South India during their reign. This project unpacks the major aspects of the Chatram's tectonics, construction, and materiality, and understands the ways in which it affects the experience of being in the sixteenth century building.
