Philip Parris Lynott (/ ˈlaɪnɒt /, LIE-not; 20 August 1949 – 4 January 1986) was an Irish musician, songwriter, and poet. He was the co-founder, lead vocalist, bassist, and primary songwriter for the hard rock band Thin Lizzy.

He was the lead vocalist of the punk rock band the Sex Pistols, which was active from 1975 to 1978, and again for various revivals during the 1990s and 2000s. He is also the lead vocalist of post-punk band Public Image Ltd (PiL), which he founded and fronted from 1978 until 1993, and again since 2009.

Philip “Phil” M. Lydon Sr. of Springfield, PA was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and detective. After a valiant battle with cancer, he passed at the age of 68 in the early morning of Sunday September 24th, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones.
