Bernard Palissy (French pronunciation: [bɛʁnaʁ palisi]; c. 1510 – c. 1589) was a French Huguenot potter, hydraulics engineer and craftsman, famous for having struggled for sixteen years to imitate Chinese porcelain.

Palissy is a type of 19th Century earthenware decorated with coloured lead glazes. Made between 1845 and 1910 Palissy typically depicts scenes of lifelike fauna and flora in the form of wall-plates and platters and other forms.
