Dollotrons were the mutilated experiments of Professor Pyg. In his questionable quest for perfection, Professor Pyg performed terrible operations and brainwashing on ordinary men and women. Pyg's victims were turned into Dollotrons, identical living life-sized dolls, who follow orders with robotic precision.

Dollotrons were the final result of Lazlo Valentin aka Professor Pyg "perfecting" a person, using identity-destroying chemicals and surgical treatments in a brutal process that left his victims irreparably scarred, physically and mentally. Dollotrons are victims lobotomized into essentially organic robots unable to think or feel anything.

Pyg is a twisted surgeon, obsessed with the myth of Pygmalion and notions of physical perfection. Due to this, he kidnaps Gotham citizens to horrifically transform into his obedient, "Dollotrons". Professor Pyg is also the leader of the Circus of Strange, a syndicate of circus-freak themed meta-human criminals.

Pyg, multilating a victim into a Dollotron. During his time as ringmaster, Pyg constructed a crudely made iron maiden with a female mannequin head attached to it, and called it his "mother of nails" as a macabre tribute to his mother. Eventually, Pyg conceived a son, Janosz.

Professor Pyg attempts to release an addictive identity-destroying drug in the form of a virus, using his Dollotrons — genderless lobotomized humans with special masks fused into their faces. He previously sold the drug to gangs, who used it to control prostitutes. Professor Pyg also plans to convert Robin into another Dollotron.

Pyg is an obsessive perfectionist who sees human beings as broken individuals; he commonly kidnaps people and uses surgery and chemicals to permanently change them into mind-controlled automatons known as Dollotrons, and sometimes into human–animal hybrids.
