2025年2月20日 · The NW2 followed Electro-Motive's earlier NW, NW1, and NC models; switchers capable of producing 900 horsepower. All of these original designs were equipped with Winton's 201-A prime mover while the NW2 was the first to utilize General Motors' model 567.

The model in the photo has the Tsunami decoder factory-installed, and Walthers Proto Max HO-scale couplers added. From the factory, with sound, running around the Christmas tree. These had the "Tuscan" color scheme. Note that this is prototypically-correct. The PRR had only one Tuscan color NW2 and it was #9175.

EMD's best-selling switcher of all time, the NW2 could be found on the largest and smallest of railroads as well as in many industrial settings.

In this production, we are offering models in eight prototypical paint schemes of both the NW2 and the SW7. We will also offer an unpainted version of each. EMD built these NW2 switcher engines from 1939 to 1949. The engine is recognizable by its half-height front radiator grill (which is different from an SW1, which had a large "porch" under the radiator grill), and the flat section on top in front of the cab, just before sloping up (which it shared with some of the early SW1 engines).
