Dec 15, 2021 · The PDP 5" can be found with the compact version (shorter grip) or full size version (longer grip). The Q5 match only has the PPQ length grip (shorter). The Full size PDP will give you 18 round magazines, versus the 15 round magazines of the PDP compact or Q5 match.

I'm looking to add another walther to my collection and I have really been looking into the Q5 match, and also into the PDP full size. Now the only real difference I can find between these two is the price, and the occasional argument of handle design. I have also debated between poly frame, or steel frame.

Q5 and PDP are basically the same platform. The PDP is almost like a new “generation” of PPQ mainly designed for duty use. Meanwhile the Q5 is a competition version of the PPQ.

Mar 13, 2023 · Differences: Q5 is a precision sporting handgun; heavy with little recoil made for accurate shooting. PDP is a defense handgun; light and easy to handle under stress. I am very satisfied with my PDP and wouldn't trade it for anything else (I have the 2.0 version with stock high performance trigger).

Mar 12, 2024 · The Q5 lower sports a compact grip with full-length railed dustcover, while the PDP Match has a longer, true full-size frame. This gives the newer gun a slightly better sense of balance in the hand due to its more even proportions. But maybe the nose-heavy configuration is what made the Q5 feel ever-so-noticeably milder when it came to felt recoil.

Dec 5, 2023 · The aluminum grips available for the steel frame pistols (both PDP and Q5) are very, very grippy. If you prefer a larger grip, I'd probably wait for the PDP steel frame. If you prefer the size of the PPQ/PDP Compact it might be worthwhile …

Feb 13, 2019 · PDP has arguably better tactile serrations (but the Q5 arguably has more visually attractive lines...) Just for information, CHPWS has optic plates for Q5 Match and SF with integrated rear sight. It’s also thinner than Walther plate. Not saying it’s better than PDP or not but it’s an option (and cost more). If you are comparing steel frame to PDP.

Jan 25, 2022 · On your trying the trigger of the PDP and Q5 side by side, it is just an individual difference. The PDP trigger is only slightly different than the Q5, which while colored blue, is the same trigger as the standard PPQ trigger.
