Today is the 6th anniversary of Onlive being shutdown, the father of all this cloud streaming services out now and future ones coming soon. In some ways it is still alive because Sony bought parts of onlive for PlayStation now but to me it's like taking a kidney or a lung because we all know the core of PlayStation now is Gaikai.

Onlive was the first ever cloud gaming service introduced to the public back in 2011. It too had an infamous failure. Many cite that it was ahead of it's time due to limitations of broadband infrastructure. Stadia had a clear advantage.

When I started playing Unreal Tournament 3 on OnLive the input lag was terrible. To me, the gain from the graphics was not enough to offset the terrible way the games felt when played.

2011年10月10日 · There's only one thing that makes me wish Onlive to be biblically successful, and it's that the model, by design, makes it harder to cheat. Since you don't have a direct access to the hardware but rather a viewport of the game, it means playing the script-kiddie is much tougher to do than on a traditional console or PC.
