Ōmori was the site of an Imperial Japanese Army-administered prisoner-of-war camp during World War II. The inhumane conditions in the camp were described in detail in the book Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption describing the life of American Olympic Athlete Louis Zamperini .

2018年11月22日 · Omori is an area located in Ota City just south of the Shinagawa area. While modern-day Omori has been built up mostly on reclaimed land, it was once an area that prospered through seaweed harvesting.

It is now one of the best-preserved historic districts in Japan. Omori is five minutes away from the World Heritage Center or 30 minutes by bus from Odashi Station. There are bus stops at either end of the town from where you can rent bicycles, some electric-assisted. The town and mine area are closed to motor vehicles.

Omori Town (大森, Ōmori) is a one and a half kilometer long stretch of houses, shops, temples and shrines that runs along the river valley to the north of the mines. It used to house magistrates, merchants and craftsmen who benefited from the nearby mines.

Ōmori Shell Mounds Memorial in Ōta. The Ōmori Shell Mounds (大森貝塚, Ōmori kaizuka) was an archaeological site on the border of Shinagawa, Tokyo and Ōta, Tokyo, in the Kantō region of Japan containing a late Jōmon period shell midden and settlement ruin. The site was designated a National Historic Site of Japan in 1955, with the area under protection extended in 1986.

To the south of Shinagawa, Ōmori literally means ‘great forest’. It’s pretty much just a concrete jungle now though. Ōmori Station is an express stop on the JR Keihin-Tohoku Line. The Keikyu Line also runs through the east of the area with stations Omori-Kaigan and Omori-machi also in the neighborhood.

2015年8月10日 · Omori is filled with history and parkland, including the beautiful Heiwa-no-mori koen. Other places of interest include the Shinagawa History Museum, Kashima Shrine and Naritasan Ennoji Temple.
