Established: In the Department of Justice by Reorganization Plan No. 2 of 1973, effective July 1, 1973. Predecessor Agencies: Functions: Enforces federal narcotics and controlled substance laws, including enforcement of regulations governing the legal manufacture, distribution, and dispensing of controlled substances.
It is designed as a ready reference for law enforcement personnel who are confronted by many of the hundreds of slang terms used to identify a wide variety of controlled substances, designer drugs, and synthetic compounds. Every efort has been made to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the information presented.

Registration - DEA Diversion Control Division
DEA allows the reinstatement of an expired registration for one calendar month after the expiration date. If the registration is not renewed within that calendar month, an application for a new DEA registration will be required.
