Looking at video last night from instructor, realized I had no wrist hinge in backswing, which shocked me frankly.

When I have good timing during my golf swing, the "1st lever" in sequence with the rest of my swing creates faster clubhead speed and better contact. Every swing is different though. It's not for everyone.

That, and having that awareness of a bent-back right wrist early in the swing allows me to shorten my backswing and promotes the forward driving of my right elbow on the downswing.
