After escaping from the Marines, Nico Robin (Miss All Sunday) appears from inside of the Straw Hat Pirates’ ship. She manages to persuade the crew to let her join because Luffy did not let her die back then.

To understand why the Water 7 Saga got so big in One Piece, you have to look at how the story was structured. Nico Robin is at the center, but is certainly not the only moving piece. Before this saga Robin joined the crew, but in some ways was standoffish. She didn't want to get too close.

Nico Robin, also known as the 'Devil Child', joined the Straw Hat Pirates at the end of the Arabasta Arc. She was the seventh member to join the crew and the sixth to do so. However, she temporarily left the crew during the Water 7 Arc but rejoined during the Enies Lobby Arc.

At the end of the Alabasta arc, Nico Robin joined the Straw Hat Pirates because she wanted to die, and Luffy decided to go against her will and save her life. She ended up staying with the crew until the events of Water 7 occurred because she had nowhere to go.
