Interpretation of XPS spectra. Ni2p peak has significantly split spin-orbit components (Δ metal =17.3eV). Ni metal spectrum has complex shape. Mixture of core level and satellite features. Satellite features not to be confused with oxidized nickel peaks. Ni compounds can also have complex, multiplet-split peaks. About this element.

Nickel Spectra – Ni-metal - XPS Database
The XPS Spectra sectiOFF provides raw and processed survey spectra, chemical state spectra, BE values, FWHM values, and overlays of key spectra. Atom% values from surveys are based OFF sample, as received, and Scofield cross-sectiOFFs. Atom% values are corrected for IMFP and PE. Peak-fits are guides for practical, real-world applicatiOFFs.
X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) Reference Pages: Nickel
X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS or ESCA) curve fitting procedures, reference materials and useful notes are listed here to provide a starting point for the consistent interpretation of XPS spectra. These reference pages contain tips and techniques that are designed to help both the novice and advanced XPS user.
New interpretations of XPS spectra of nickel metal and oxides
2006年5月1日 · In principle, the oxidation states of nickel in the surface region can be determined from the binding energies (BE) and their chemical shifts in XPS spectra. Previous research has supported assignment of BEs of 852.6, 854.6 and 856.1 eV to Ni 2p 3/2 XPS spectra for Ni 0, Ni 2+ and Ni 3+, respectively in oxidized Ni, oxides, hydroxides and ...
Nickel – HarwellXPS Guru
Nickel, as with most first row TMs, is not straightforward to analyse by XPS. The 2p region is the most commonly analysed, however it undergoes extensive multiplet splitting upon the formation of a compound (Figure 1), rendering chemical state analysis a daunting task.

Detailed peak fitting analysis of the Ni 2
2023年1月1日 · A quantitative study of the surface composition of clean metallic and partially oxidized nickel exposed to oxygen was carried out employing X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). By fitting both branches of the metallic Ni 2p spectrum, it was possible to resolve two previously unreported satellite peaks in the Ni 2 p1/2 portion of the spectrum.
It is useful to relate this information to the core level XPS assignments of features in nickel metal and oxides. Beginning with nickel metal ELS, they suggest that more intense features at 6.0 and 9.5 eV are due to surface and bulk plasmon losses respectively with weaker intra- and in-ter-band transitions at 3.7 and 7.1 eV.
Interpretation of Ni2p XPS spectra of Ni conductors and Ni …
Ni2p 3/2 peak structures and binding energies reflect two energetic contributions. The major contribution is that associated with the electrostatic field produced by ejection of the Ni (2p) photoelectron, the minor contribution is the relaxation energy associated with filling unoccupied, conduction band 3d 9 and 4s Ni metal orbitals.
