2014年8月27日 · I'm trying to decide between buying a NexStar 6SE or 8SE. My main concern is that the telescope should be easy to move around and not awkward and bulky, which is why I'm hesitating about the 8SE.

The Celestron NexStar 6SE and 8SE are both Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes with a focal ratio of f/10. The 8SE is based on Celestron’s original 1970s C8 optical tube – albeit modernized with HyperStar compatibility and Celestron’s “StarBright XLT” coatings.

As far as I know, the 8SE will work better with an off-axis guider, and that's a whole deal to learn, but it's still not the right tool for deep space astrophotography, maybe excepting for small objects.

Although 6SE and 8SE are almost similar in optics. But 8SE is far superior to 6SE. It has a 2-inch extra aperture size than 6SE. Because of this 8-inch aperture, 8SE can collect 78% more light than 6SE. That means you will be able to see distant fainter celestial objects clearly with 8SE compared to 6SE. 2015年8月29日 · When I want a quick, easy night of visual, or when people come over and want to look at the stars, the 8SE is the one I bring out. Another thing to consider is that if you want to start out mostly visual, you can get a scope like the 6SE, and later on you can transfer the scope to a GEM mount for AP. That's what I do with the 8SE scope.
