NAD AV716 Surround Sound Receiver Manual - HiFi Engine
When looking inside, surround board is separate from the other circuit boards. This NAD looks like a stereo model, with surround added on top of that. The sound quality with a pair of big JBL stereo speakers is great, nice and clear, as good as my NAD 7150 from the 80's.

The sound is excellent, there a lots of great features and options, the remote is great and can control several other NAD link capable devices, and in the NAD tradition it is a great value (I got mine through NetMarket for like $450 or something absurd).
