The EMD GP7 is a four-axle (B-B) diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division and General Motors Diesel between October 1949 and May 1954. [2] The GP7 was the first EMD road locomotive to use a hood unit design instead of a car-body design.

2020年10月23日 · The New York Central GP7's contained a great deal of variety. NYC 5600 was one of the basic models and remained unchanged through Penn Central, where it retained the same road number, right through its life on Conrail.

NYC GP7 #5786 - New York Central (Penn Central) Description: Although now on the Penn Central roster for a number of years, this 1952 EMD built GP7 still wears the NYC logo, paint scheme and number it originally had under New York Central roster.

Penn Central rostered nearly 300 GP7s, which were inherited from PRR and NYC, and were assigned road numbers 5600-5959. The former PRR units were numbered in the 5840-5899 and 5950-5954 series, and the remainder were ex-NYC.

Internal components were also similar; a model D12B main generator, D27C traction motors, and Blomberg trucks. The GP7 was offered in six different gear ratios, depending on a railroad's needs.
