NSU Motorenwerke AG, or NSU, was a German manufacturer of automobiles, motorcycles and pedal cycles, founded in 1873. Acquired by Volkswagen Group in 1969, VW merged NSU with Auto Union, creating Audi NSU Auto Union AG, ultimately Audi. The NSU is an abbreviation of the name Neckarsulm.

NSU was prominent in pre-War racing, scoring a 500cc class win in the Italian Grand Prix in 1930 and a 350 SOHC bike had the fastest lap at Monza in 1936. Both 350 and 500 race bikes had DOHC engines in 1937. In 1939 came a supercharged NSU 350 DOHC race bike, with an estimated 60bhp.
