2025年3月30日 · For the record, here's the story behind #759's "freeze damage". In late 1973, the Delaware and Hudson RR tentatively approved a steam excursion featuring #759 and Steamtown's two operable ex-CP G-5 Pacifics (nos. 1246 and #1278).

(on the right of the picture). Joe had been the boilermaker working on the 759 when it received a complete Class 5 'shopping'', summer of 1958. After the 759 was completed, the NKP closed the back-shop and furloughed all the employees. The 759 was parked on the dead-line, never put into service. She was a 'zero-mileage' engine.

IT's May 4, 1969, and NKP 759 is heading west over the N&W (ex-NKP) trestle that is east of Conneaut, Ohio. She's pulling the Golden Spike Centennial Limited special with its blue cars shining in the sun. For some in the image, it is their first glimpse of the beauty of a steam locomotive. For others, it brings back treasured memories.

2025年3月7日 · We have reassembled the NKP 759 after abatement of the asbestos and have applied a new jacket. Steamtown will move her over to track 9 this weekend and will paint the new jacket next week. Then we will complete the reassembly back …

2025年3月14日 · NKP 759 was my first encounter with Big Steam and a truly magnificent, loud, powerful machine. I didn't get any photos but the pictures in my memory are still vivid. Mr. Rowland, thank you for getting that engine out of cold Vermont storage and introducing me to steam on the high iron!

NKP 2-8-4, #759, at the roundhouse in Conneaut, Ohio, over in a dark corner was a steam turbine and bracket that had held the turbine & alternator for 759’s radio, —- there was a dusty, steel ‘shop-tag, still attached: “759”! Back in the 1950’s, before 759 was retired, the radio generator had been removed & missing
