2025年3月30日 · For the record, here's the story behind #759's "freeze damage". In late 1973, the Delaware and Hudson RR tentatively approved a steam excursion featuring #759 and Steamtown's two operable ex-CP G-5 Pacifics (nos. 1246 and #1278).

(on the right of the picture). Joe had been the boilermaker working on the 759 when it received a complete Class 5 'shopping'', summer of 1958. After the 759 was completed, the NKP closed the back-shop and furloughed all the employees. The 759 was parked on the dead-line, never put into service. She was a 'zero-mileage' engine.

She's pulling the Golden Spike Centennial Limited special with its blue cars shining in the sun. For some in the image, it is their first glimpse of the beauty of a steam locomotive. For others, it brings back treasured memories.

2025年3月7日 · We have reassembled the NKP 759 after abatement of the asbestos and have applied a new jacket. Steamtown will move her over to track 9 this weekend and will paint the new jacket next week. Then we will complete the reassembly back …
