NGC 2149 is a Reflection Nebula in the Monoceros constellation. NGC 2149 is situated close to the celestial equator and, as such, it is at least partly visible from both hemispheres in certain times of the year.

NGC 2149 is a somewhat unknown reflection nebula in the southwest corner of Monoceros. Just to its west is smaller, dimmer and less defined vdB 66 around a 10th magnitude star. Steven James O'Mera has this to say about NGC 2149 in his book "The Secret Deep".

At image center is the reflection nebula NGC 2149, located 1300 light years away. This nebula spans 3 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of just over 1 light year. The nebula is accentuated by a superimposed dark nebula Dobashi 5004, just above and left of the brightest portion of NGC 2149.

From Virginia Beach , NGC2149 will become visible at around 20:25 (EDT), 36° above your south-western horizon, as dusk fades to darkness. It will then sink towards the horizon, setting at 00:10. All times shown in Virginia Beach local time.

NGC2149 is a small reflection nebula located in the southwest corner of Monoceros. You can find it approximately 4 degrees due east of κ Orionis (Saiph). Although its size is only about 3 arc minutes, it represents a portion of the surrounding molecular cloud reflecting the light of the stars.
