The McLaren MP4-21 was the car with which the McLaren team competed in the 2006 Formula One World Championship. It was driven initially by Kimi Räikkönen and Juan Pablo Montoya. After ten races, reserve driver Pedro de la Rosa took over Montoya's race seat. Gary Paffett was also a test driver for the MP4-21. [2]

The McLaren MP4-21 was the Formula One car driven by Kimi Räikkönen, Juan Pablo Montoya and Pedro de la Rosa, during the 2006 Formula One season. The MP4-21 was driven in all 18 races of the 2006 season, scoring nine podiums, and scoring points in all bar the 2006 United States Grand Prix .

2024年4月10日 · Designed under the Technical Directorship of Adrian Newey, the MP4-21 is iconic and instantly recognizable with its chrome and red livery. This particular example is chassis 02, a double podium finisher with Raikkonen at the wheel and successfully contested no fewer than eight Grand Prix in the first half of the season.

Designed by Adrian Newey, Tim Goss, Peter Prodromou, Paddy Lowe, and Mike Caughlan, the MP4-21 featured new aero with a familiar “needle-nose” front reminiscent of the 2004 MP4-19; the switch to a V-8 power unit for the 2006 season also permitted a more compact rear end treatment.

As a successor to the fastest car of 2005, McLaren have developed the MP4-21 for 2006 which proved a bit less competitive. The MP4-21 looks very similar to the McLaren MP4-20. In addition to the tighter packaging to the rear of the car, the nose has been lowered and made narrower.
