Mosa Meat is a food technology company based in Maastricht, The Netherlands. Founded by scientist Mark Post and food technician Peter Verstrate, our team created the world’s kindest burger: the first ever cultured beef burger.

Just like a farmer chooses the best steers for the butcher, we select the healthiest cows and the best cells to help us grow our meat. Instead of heading for the freezer, the cows are free to roam the fields once we’ve collected a sample of cells, the size of a peppercorn.

Mark is the scientist behind the world’s first cultured burger. As a medical doctor by training and having worked on tissue engineering for vascular grafts, he became massively inspired by the possibilities of cultured meat, and co-founded Mosa Meat.

Mosa Meat cultivates real beef from cells. We are the world’s original pioneers, unveiling the first cultivated beef burger in 2013. Our aim is to create the exact same meat while reducing the GHG emissions, land and water use, and with no harm to animals.

2022年10月18日 · Today, we’re celebrating taking the next step in the scaling up of our facilities at Mosa Meat for the production of cultivated beef. We’re expanding to a total of 7,340 m2 facilities (77,000 sq ft.), making it the largest cultivated meat campus in the world.
