Mooney Falls is located in Havasu Canyon on the Havasupai Indian Reservation, just west of Grand Canyon National Park in Northern Arizona. It is a 3.5 drive from Las Vegas, NV and 4 hours from Phoenix, AZ. The village of Supai is located within the canyon, and you will need to hike through it before reaching Mooney Falls.

If you hike to Havasupai and stop at Havasu Falls, you will have missed the grandest of the waterfalls in the Grand Canyon: Mooney Falls. The hike to Mooney Falls is not only scenic, but getting to the idyllic pool at its base of this 200-foot falls is an adventure, requiring you to use chains and ladders.

It's then a two mile hike on rocky, sandy, uneven terrain to the first waterfall. The most famous waterfall (Havasu Falls) requires scrambling down a steep, rocky trail at the end. The tallest waterfall (Mooney Falls) requires navigation through a nearly vertical tunnel, and is challenging even for a person in perfect health.

Mooney Falls was unlike anything I have ever seen! It is located at Havasupai, and it was my favorite experience of the week. The hike was unforgettable. It included steep, slippery stairs which made my heart race the entire descent. The waterfall is immense and has a dazzling, turquoise, blue color similar to the famous Havasu Falls.
