Melonite vs. Chrome lined Barrels - AR15.COM
2013年9月23日 · The Melonite (Salt Bath Nitride/SBN) is a treatment, not a plating. It does not shrink or enlarge the bore at all. My only concern is that a Melonite barrel should be very very precisely cut using the sharpest possible carbide tools as to …

2014年12月3日 · Personally running a Glock G22 (40 S&W chamber) for about 25 years with NO lube or oil on the outside of the slide, and living on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico in an area that also sees a lot of rainfall, and seeing NO rust whatsover, and not seeing any on the slides of other Glocks, I'd say that it would be extremely difficult (although not impossible) to get surface corrosoin on a melonite ...
Melonite or Cerakote?? - Sniper's Hide
2012年11月29日 · Re: Melonite or Cerakote?? The melonite process shouldn't cause any issues. If it did, they wouldn't melonite anything that sees stress. Personally I would skip both, give Birdsong a call and Black-T everything. I have a pre-Springfield XD9 (HS2000) and they didn't melonite, just used a bluing finish and I had a rust issue.

The 284 never printed a good group prior to, or after melonite. It was later sent back to bartlein and replaced (thank you Bartlein). The 7-08 shot pretty nice prior to melonite.
