They are named after Mahra bin Haydan.

Mehri is a Semitic language of the modern South Arabian branch. It is spoken by the people within an area between the province of Mahra, in the east of Yemen, and the region of Dhofar, in the west of Oman.

What is known is that the Meheri are one of the oldest races around. The High Belra'th was the first Meheri Neh'dren. He brought order to the chaotic tribes and united them. His name is held most sacred to the Meheri. There are three main tribes of Meheri; The Eiridikh, The Geshtavin, and the Vohouro.
