A marut resorts to lethal force only if a contract calls for it, if the contract is fully broken, or if the marut is attacked.

But whenever the questions get asked of what’s the strongest, or scariest, or favorite big CR monster, I’ve never seen the Marut get its spot. And I think this is an injustice! (Ha. Puns.) The Marut is THE apex of lawbringers in 5e.

If the Marut fails 6 out of 100 saves it's just straight up dead from exhaustion (which for some reason it's not immune to). By the time you get 7th level slots the spell DC should be 17-18, which gives the Marut a >= 16% chance of failure on a save.

2024年3月9日 · If a marut became involved in a fight between a lich and a paladin with some divine blessing making them immortal, it might regard both combatants as equally deserving of its ire. From a mechanical perspective, these spells pretty much suck. Call marut, in particular, is worse than gate in almost all ways.

2019年6月19日 · This would prevent bullshit with flight. But I still think a marut would win 5/10 times simply because it has resistances that would make the 174 damage from the tarrasque, ignoring swallow, to 87 while it will consistently be taking 120 fixed forced damage per round.

2018年5月22日 · They bend the rules, a Marut shows up, slaps some people around just to show the players what they're up against, then teleport a couple questionable players away to be judged (and most likely returned back with the fear of lawfulness put in them). I think it could be used for much more interesting plot hooks than as a enemy.

2018年6月2日 · A Marut is now basically the d&d version of the Terminator. An unstoppable, programmable killbot that walks through explosion and wrecks cities to complete its task. As such, I plan on having one in the background if the party starts pissing off powerful characters (which they will, knowing my group).

2019年4月18日 · The marut from Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes is probably my favorite monster in that whole book. It's CR25 and absolutely deserves it. It's CR25 and absolutely deserves it. The marut doesn't bother rolling to attack, when it wants to hit something it just does.
