Nov 3, 2012 · Given what I've discovered about Ethyl Maltol, I have to conclude that the quarter teaspoon to 10ml of Propylene Glycol is slightly more than is advisable. I've found two sources that say 1 gram (0.20 teaspoons) of EM is soluble in 17ml of PG (or a quarter teaspoon is soluble in 21.25ml of PG):

Jan 21, 2024 · EM - ethyl maltol - won't unmute any flavors. It will sweeten them a bit. Can't help with how to mix down from powder. I use so little sweeteners that the 10 ml bottle I got some years back is still more than half full. If store juice is muted, uh... most of those are really heavily flavored. So maybe your gear?

Mar 3, 2010 · The Ethyl Maltol is really used to sort of meld the tobacco flavor, it cuts back the top bitters and enhances the lower 'grassy' flavors of pure tobacco leaf extracts. It's more a flavor enhancer than a sweetener, some people confuse that. I really don't like the tobacco without EM, kind of 'harsh' if you use it all day every day.

The other Cotton Candy is listed as Cotton Candy (Circus Style) and appears to be made from a different chemical. The LorAnn's Cotton Candy flavoring is very different from Ethyl Maltol.

Jan 4, 2018 · Ethyl Maltol isn't really a sweetner unless you add a lot of it to the juice, then it will ruin the taste of the juice. A tiny amount around 1/2 percent or less can add a good mouth feel and blend some flavors.
